Collaborating Across Generations

Today, the typical workforce includes five distinct generations. Each of these unique generations brings a different set of work values, communication styles, and views about what is important in life in general. Sometimes these preferences can lead to misunderstandings. However, if we learn to leverage the talents and strengths of all generations, we can make the workplace more collaborative and productive for everyone.

Communicating Across Styles

Do you find it challenging to communicate with a certain colleague or customer? Chances are you’re each using a different social style – a distinct and preferred way of thinking, communicating and making decisions in the workplace. Discover your preferred communication style(s); recognize key behaviors of other styles; and develop versatility in using all four styles to enhance interpersonal communication and collaboration.

Note: Pre-work is required and will be sent to registered participants one week prior to class.

Cultivating Your Character Strengths

Character strengths are the positive dimensions of your personality that influence how you think, feel and behave. They reflect the “real” you—who you are at your core. Knowing and applying your highest character strengths is the key to becoming your best self. Discover your signature strengths and learn how to develop and use them to enhance team collaboration; build your resilience; and maximize your professional potential.

Note: Pre-work is required and will be sent to registered participants one week prior to class.

Enhancing Interpersonal Communication

Interpersonal communication is integral to working with others, and the way we interact with one another influences individual excellence, teamwork, and engagement. Discover how using a few key interpersonal strategies, techniques and practices can help foster a strong community and set the stage for success.

Note: Pre-work is required and will be sent to registered participants one week prior to class.

Enneagram: Explore the Nine

Have you ever wondered how your personality type may influence your life? The Enneagram is a personality theory that characterizes nine distinct strategies by which the human psyche develops a worldview and relates to the self and others. In this session, we’ll discuss your predominant personality, or “type,” and the ways you activate this type in your personal and professional life. Join us to explore the nine!

Note: Pre-work is required and will be sent to registered participants one week prior to class.

Facilitating Performance Accountability

Whether you’re a supervisor, a team leader, or a project manager, your role is to achieve goals with and through the efforts of team members. Discover how to plan and facilitate an effective accountability discussion in order to enable and motivate individual team members to improve their performance and build ongoing commitment to meeting or exceeding expectations.

Note: Pre-work is required and will be sent to registered participants one week prior to class.

From Potential to Performance: Leading with Strengths

“Those who strive to be competent in all areas, become the least effective leaders overall.” – Don Clifton

Then, we’ll discuss the 4 Basic Needs of Followers and how to leverage your strengths to fulfill these needs within your team. Finally, we’ll identify key indicators of a high-performing team and delve into the 5C’s of Strength Based Teams.

Increase Engagement and Accountability Through Effective Feedback

Participants will review and apply a best practice model for planning and delivering effective feedback. This will involve analyzing case examples and providing feedback using the step-by-step conversation planner provided. Hands-on practice will be facilitated through small group and partner discussions. Additionally, participants will receive a quick guide resource for convenient reference when implementing these techniques, whether in the workplace or personal lives.

Increase Your Productivity and Make Time for You

The truth is, you cannot manage time, but you can choose how to use your time and energy to increase personal productivity.  Participants will be introduced to techniques to plan and organize work, prioritize tasks, and set realistic goals in order to achieve a healthy work-life integration.

Leading Collaborative and Productive Meetings

This course is based on meeting best practices from best-selling author Patrick Lencioni’s book Death by Meeting. Discuss the characteristics of effective and ineffective meetings in your workplace and review best practices for structuring and implementing the right meeting that aligns with your needs. Participants will participate in a meeting and depart with a template to implement back in their work unit.

Overcoming Groupthink with Collaborative Decision Making

During this session, attendees will engage in a comprehensive examination of Groupthink, including the symptoms that can disrupt team dynamics and lead to unfavorable results. Furthermore, participants will contribute their personal experiences of how Groupthink has affected them. The workshop will also encompass best practices for addressing Groupthink, with a specific focus on two key tools: Cause and Effect Analysis and the Nominal Group Technique, both of which are effective strategies for brainstorming solutions and making decisions as a team

Team Essentials: Creating the Framework for a High Performing Team

The most common team challenges are: conflicting goals, role clarity, ineffective communication, and poor planning. For teamwork to be successful, teams and individual team members must have clear, shared goals; a sense of commitment; the ability to work together and the ability to resolve interpersonal issues. This session will allow participants to explore the developmental needs of teams and identify strategies for helping the team effectively move toward enhanced team performance.
