Disability Plans

NC State offers a no cost disability plan, as well as voluntary supplemental plans, for eligible employees.

If you’re physically or mentally unable to work, NC State offers eligible employees short-term and long-term benefits through a free, state-sponsored disability plan. NC State also offers two supplemental disability plans that provide long-term disability benefits.

State Provided Disability Plans

A no-cost option for eligible employees who participate in the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP).

University-provided plans which provide supplemental long-term disability benefits. These are voluntary plans that are employee-paid and work in conjunction with the State Provided Disability Plans.
