Financials for Human Resource Professionals
This program is designed to provide NC State Human Resources (HR) Professionals with educational tools and resources that explain financial concepts relevant to HR functions.
The Financials for HR Professionals guides are intended to enhance HR Competencies, promote financial literacy, support decision-making, and enhance collaboration with finance professionals. The guides strive to equip HR Professionals with the essential financial knowledge they need to make informed decisions, understand the financial implications of our HR work, and provide real-world examples and scenarios that HR professionals encounter, making the learning relevant and practical.
Budget and Finance
The Budget and Finance Guide is the first foundational resource in the Financials for HR series. It offers a comprehensive yet high-level overview of key financial concepts, establishing essential terminology for future guides. This guide also highlights the critical intersections between finance and human resources, laying the groundwork for deeper exploration in subsequent guides.
Payroll, Time and Labor
The Payroll, Time and Labor Guide is the second guide in the Financials for HR Professionals initiative. This resource is designed to further strengthen NC State HR professionals’ financial literacy and support informed, compliant decision-making. Building on foundational concepts in the first guide, this resource provides essential knowledge to confidently navigate the financial complexities of topics such as additional compensation, leave payouts, payroll lockout, appointment types, and deviated contracts, among others, ensuring compliance and enhancing collaboration with our finance counterparts.
