Leave Programs
NC State values work-life balance and offers many leave programs to support our employees.
Whether it’s to handle personal matters, take care of illnesses or otherwise look after your physical and emotional well-being, NC State provides leave benefits so our employees can take time away from work. The leave types below are available to eligible staff and faculty.
Accrued Leave
Employees accumulate leave based on their length of service and employment status, allowing them to take paid time off for personal, medical, or vacation purposes.
Extended Leave
Extended leave programs typically cover prolonged absences for reasons such as medical, family care, or other extended leave for military personnel.
Department Approved Leave
Leave requests that require approval from the employee’s supervisor or department, typically including leave for personal non-medical reasons.
