Classification and Compensation

Classification and Compensation provides a consultative, solution-driven approach to talent alignment by designing positions that fulfill organizational and university goals, recruiting top-tier talent to the University, and ensuring attractive, equitable, and competitive compensation to promote excellence in pursuit of NC State’s mission and goals. Classification Consultants partner with campus to design SHRA positions and EHRA academic, research, professional, public service, and extension personnel positions, while effectively administering the State of North Carolina and UNC system classification, employment, and compensation plans and policies.

Employee Relations

Employee Relations is dedicated to providing consultative services based on a wide range of issues related to individual employment as well as organizational effectiveness and work environment issues. Employee Relations partners to design workplace solutions.

Executive Search Services

Executive Search Services is NC State University’s internal executive recruitment service, committed to identifying and recruiting outstanding talent exclusively to NC State. ESS conducts retained searches for Senior Administrative and Academic Officer and other executive level positions including academic department heads and center leaders. As a dedicated internal resource and partner, ESS is committed to providing outstanding search services and technical support resulting in the “best hires” for our University. We are committed to identifying and presenting qualified and motivated pools of candidates and providing red carpet treatment throughout the search process.

HR Continuous Improvement

HR Continuous Improvement is committed to strategic improvement efforts throughout the University by working with departments and division leaders with the development and implementation of Human Resource initiatives, policies and processes that effectively utilize resources and enhance services.

HR PMO

The HR PMO provides seamless delivery across stakeholder groups by establishing, maintaining and promoting project management best practices and standards across the university’s HR function. Specific responsibilities and services of the HR PMO, include but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensures that the project portfolio aligns with the university’s strategic goals and/or compliance standards
  • Collaborates with cross-functional committees (i.e., Change management, Lean six sigma, Marketing & Communication, etc.) to maintain shared project management practices across the HR function 
  • Provides project and project portfolio guidance and support to project managers and stakeholders
  • Provides guidance and support with strategic HR portfolio management & governance

HR Service Center (HRSC)

The HR Service Center (HRSC) is a dedicated team located within University Human Resources, situated in the Administrative Services II building on Sullivan Drive. Our primary focus includes:

  • HRNow Case Management: Streamlining the HRNow portal to enhance user experience and address inquiries promptly.
  • I-9 Process Support: Assisting new employees with the I-9 employment verification process, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles.
  • Background Check Endorsement Program: Overseeing and managing the background check process to uphold our hiring standards.
  • Concierge Services: Our Concierge Services team is dedicated to assisting campus partners with HR tasks and responsibilities related to Job Action within PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin. We aim to simplify the process, providing expert guidance and support to ensure a seamless experience as you navigate these essential HR functions.

Human Resources Information Management & Analytics

Human Resource Information Management & Analytics (HRIMA) provides a wide range of core HR services and support that includes the following:

  • HR data management, compliance and stewardship
  • System enhancement planning, testing and technical training
  • Project management and process improvement
  • Reporting and analytics
  • Employee records
  • Time-keeping and leave system support
  • Data quality assurance

International Employment

International Employment assists campus to successfully employ and retain foreign national employees needing employment sponsorship on a temporary or permanent basis. IE stays current with relevant U.S. Citizenship and Immigrant Services, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Labor, and Department of State regulations and policies, and provides education to the university community to facilitate understanding and compliance.

Learning and Organizational Development

Learning and Organizational Development builds the knowledge, skills, and abilities of NC State’s workforce by helping them develop and achieve their potential so that the organizations they work for can succeed and grow. L&OD fosters a learning culture where employees are engaged in continuous learning. We facilitate this learning by delivering talent and organizational development strategies and services focused on motivating, engaging, and educating a committed and high-performing workforce. We design the best solution to assist you or your team in achieving higher team morale and performance. We develop NC State’s talent to Think and Do.

Marketing, Communications & Technology Support

The Marketing, Communications & Technology Support team develops strategic communications for dissemination to faculty, staff and prospective NC State employees. The unit also manages the UHR website, oversees all division branding efforts, and maintains the IT support for UHR.

Onboarding Center

The Onboarding Center provides you with all of the information you need to prepare for employment and become a vital part of the Wolfpack family. We are committed to helping you navigate through the hiring process as easily and quickly as possible.

Talent Acquisition

Talent Acquisition and Employment within NC State University Human Resources is responsible for ensuring that NC State is able to effectively recruit, hire, and employ a workforce to support the advancement of NC State University’s mission, vision, goals, and strategic initiatives.

University Temporary Services

University Temporary Services is the in-house temporary staffing service for North Carolina State University and UNC-Chapel Hill. UTS provides cost-effective, qualified temporary personnel in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout each campus.
