Around Town Perks

GoPass

GoPass is a bus pass for local transit allowing the NC State community to ride GoRaleigh and GoTriangle buses at no cost. The pass is valid from July 1st to June 30th each year, and must be renewed annually.

NC State faculty, staff and students can request a GoPass at no cost using an active NC State email address. The pass is non-transferable and will be deactivated when a faculty member, staff member or student separates from the university.

Request a GoPass for a smartphone by logging in with your Unity ID. If you are unable to download the mobile app, physical cards are available upon request by contacting GoTriangle.

A GoPass is not needed to ride GoCary, GoDurham and Chapel Hill Transit because they are still fare-free.

Thanks for riding!

Krispy Kreme Challenge

Who doesn’t want to share a day full of 2400 calories, 12 doughnuts, and 5 miles, with their family and friends. The mantra of the Krispy Kreme Challenge epitomizes the test of physical fitness and gastrointestinal fortitude. What started as a challenge among ten friends has transformed into a nationally publicized charity race for the NC Children’s Hospital, and the number one tradition on campus.

Participants begin the Challenge at the Memorial Belltower on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. Runners then travel 2.5 miles through historic downtown Raleigh to the Krispy Kreme located at the intersection of Peace and Person Streets, where they attempt to consume one dozen original glazed doughnuts. The hardest part of the Challenge awaits them as they run 2.5 miles back to the Memorial Belltower.

Don’t want to run or eat the doughnuts? You and your family can get involved by donating or volunteering.
