NCFlex Dental Plan
The NCFlex Dental Plan offers three plan levels provided through MetLife: High Option, Classic Option and Low Option. Each option allows you to select a dentist of your choice and you can select “network providers” as well. Each are traditional plans that pay benefits based on usual, customary and reasonable charges. When an employee enrolls outside of his/her initial 30-day eligibility period, waiting periods may apply for certain services. See below for plan comparisons and information, or visit the NCFlex website for complete details.
Eligibility
Faculty and staff (non-temp) who work between 20 hours per week (.5 FTE) and 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE) are eligible to enroll in a dental plan. Employees pay full cost for employee coverage in addition to any dependent coverage selected.
Effective Dates of Coverage
Employees must enroll within 30 days of their hire date or within 30 days of a qualified life event. Waiting periods may apply outside of the newly hired initial 30-day eligibility period.
Start of Coverage
Coverage begins the first of the month following your hire/start date or event date.
End of Coverage
Coverage will end on the last day of the month in which your employment ends. For example, if your last day of work is March 20, your coverage would end on March 31.
