Legal Services Plan
NC State offers eligible employees a low-cost legal service through MetLife Legal Plans. Employees who pay for this program have access to a wide array of legal services to meet personal and family needs. Services and referrals are available through a network of providers at affordable costs. See below for plan information, or visit the MetLife Legal Plan website for complete details.
Eligibility
Faculty and staff (non-temp) who work 20 hours per week (.5 FTE) or greater, for nine or more months per year on a recurring basis, are eligible to participate in MetLife Legal Plans. Eligible dependents and legal spouses are also covered.
Effective Dates of Coverage
New employees are eligible to enroll within the first 30 days of employment. After the initial 30-day eligibility window, employees can enroll in or cancel coverage only during annual enrollment.
Start of Coverage
Coverage becomes effective the first day of the second month following a new employee’s hire date.
End of Coverage
Coverage will end on the last day of the month in which your employment ends. For example, if your last day of work is March 20, your coverage would end on March 31.
Any covered participant who leaves NC State employment may continue with the MetLife Legal Plan through a direct-pay option.
Premiums and Enrollment
The premium for MetLife Legal Plans is $9 per month and will be deducted on a post-tax basis.
