Crisis Support

If you or someone you know is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to your local emergency room.

  • 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: The 988 Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, as well as prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones. Call 988 or start an online chat.

For Students

If you’re having a mental health emergency a counselor is always available:

  • Call 919.515.2423 for help. In the case of a life-threatening emergency, call 911.
    • Emergency services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You don’t need an appointment for emergency assistance.
    • After hours: If you’re seeking help after 4 p.m. and before 8 a.m., Monday – Friday, or on the weekend, please contact our on-call counselor by calling 919.515.2423 and select option 2.

Concerning Behaviors

If you know of an employee or student at imminent risk of harming themselves, contact the NC State Police Department at 919-515-3000 or call 911. You can also complete the Concerning Behavioral Referral form if you are concerned about an employee or student’s behavior.
