Resources for Mental Health Awareness Month

FASAP

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, an observance intended to raise awareness about mental health challenges, reduce the stigma related to these issues and encourage those with mental health concerns to seek help. NC State employees can access the following mental health-related resources:

Counseling Service

NC State’s Faculty and Staff Assistance Program offers a no-cost counseling service that can help you and your household members address stress and other challenges, including relationship, personal and family issues. A master’s- or doctoral-level clinician will listen to your concerns by phone and refer you to in-person or virtual counseling services and other resources if needed. Three free in-person or virtual counseling sessions are available through the service.

ComPsych, the world’s largest provider of employee assistance programs, administers FASAP, which offers an array of concierge-style services to faculty and staff. You can access the counseling service by going to the ComPsych website or calling 866-467-0467. The first time you log into the website, you’ll need to register and enter the NC State web ID: FASAP. After you log in, scroll until you find the “Counselor” tile, and then click it.

Mental Health Awareness Toolkit

ComPsych has created an online Mental Health Awareness Toolkit. The toolkit will help you learn how mental and physical health are intertwined, how to achieve good work-life balance, how to deal with stress and more. The toolkit also is available in Spanish.
